A wise man once said: There are no problems, because if you can change it, you should. Otherwise, you should accept it as a prerequisite.
Let’s put it to the test. For example, disposable plastic, which we use once and then leave lying around for eternity by throwing it on a big pile. Think garbage dump or just hop,.. set it on fire. Gone is gone, right?
Can we change the use of disposable plastic? Yes, we can, if users refuse it, entrepreneurs come up with alternatives and the government can give a push in the right direction. I mean, you can also use banana leaves as packaging. Or make cups from orange peels or … Clearly, this problem can be changed and so we do not have to simply accept it as a prerequisite.
Let’s make it a bit more difficult: climate change. Or maybe it is very difficult. The climate is changing, we should perhaps just accept that as a precondition and that humans play a role in that should be clear. Unless of course you have an interest in not wanting to see that. Wink hell… eh Shell… And even if you want to put aside that argument, check out these about how we talk about climate change.
Ok, let’s really challenge ourselves: inequality in the world. It is said that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Is that a law of nature? No. It is commercial parties that make a profit by (being allowed to) create money. We have given them that right, and those commercial parties reap the benefits. If it goes wrong, we have to pay (remember 2008). Should we accept that as a precondition? No! Money creation concerns us all, changing that will not be easy but it is necessary. It Giet Oan! Know your power co-creator, one for all and all for one!
A society that focuses on justice will experience injustice. A society that focuses on service will experience justice. - Bommetje 2, het orakel leiderschap by Peter Kemperman and Paul Kortman
